The Friends of the Sharon
Public Library
PO Box 235
Sharon, MA 02067
The Friends of the Sharon Public Library is a non-profit organization which was formed over 25 years ago with the mission to supplement the Library’s annual budget in an effort to expand Library offerings and increase enjoyment of the Library. Our efforts can be grouped into three catagories:
Raising Funds
Fund raising efforts include membership dues, Adopt-a-Book and the Annual
Used Book Sale. The Friends also solicit donations from local businesses
including Dedham Savings Bank, The Sharon Credit Union and Shaw's whose
generous donations support our Adopt-a-Book Program. In 2009 we gave
the Library close to $8,000.
Spending Money
The Sharon Public Library has an operating budget from the town and the
state which supports the salaries and daily overhead of running the Library.
Programming for adults and children, new furniture, a video projector,
large-print books, new trash cans, refreshments at programs...so many
of the “extras” which make our Library such a wonderful, rich place come
from funds raised by the Friends.
Building Community
The Friends enrich the life of the town by bringing together neighbors
from across Sharon and across age-lines. We support and provide programming
that stimulates the minds of our children and adults. We run quarterly
cultural trips to exciting places in the greater Boston area. Our Book
Buddies program pairs gracious, mobile volunteers with homebound, avid
readers and can create lasting bonds. Being on the Board, volunteering,
attending an event or cultural trip are wonderful ways to meet new friends
and get to know the people who share your town and Library. Join us

The Friends of the Sharon Public Library is open to everyone.
